I have to give this game 5 stars, even though it only deserves 4. The biggest problem with this game is the lack of boards. How Nintendo could make such a great game but skimp out on that is just ridiculous and they haven't added any through updates / DLC. I've played multiple Mario Party games (1,2,3 (N64), one on GameCube, Super Mario Party (Switch), and Super Stars (Switch) and this is still a very solid game. I love this game though. I mean I honestly can't stand the Minigame "don't wake wiggler", except when I screw over the person next to me, but the motion controls really make this game shine. Now I really dislike Mario Party Super Stars. That game has no Allys, no custom dice, and worst of all NO MOTION CONTROLS! Mini games like Chip shot challenge would have been phenomenal remade with at least the option to play with motion controls over buttons / sticks. This game gets so much hate and I just don't get why. I'm 35 and play this with my adult friends and it is always a blast. To me, it is all about competition, strategy, screwing someone over, and laughing hysterically. I always help my opponents with "this is what I would do" because going for the star isn't always the best bet. If I am around the same distance as my opponents to the star, I look at my options on how I could better myself elsewhere while I wait for the star to move closer to me. An example is, if 3 other people are going towards 1 star, I only have a 1 in 4 chance to get the star. Instead, I might try and land on an ally space so I can have them add to my roll, while heading towards the item shop to buy a golden tube, which takes me directly to the star. I usually sit on at least one of these to use later when the star is not near me or I want to prevent someone else from getting it. If you like strategy and fierce completion, this is the game. It really doesn't get the credit it deserves for what it gets right, everyone just hates on Nintendo for the lack of maps and matchmaking multiplayer.
