The movie was obviously trying to be a metaphor for our boring mundane lives but the true aha moment for me is that by forcing myself to watch until the end just in case (something actually happened or for the hope it would pull some emotion out of me) is a metaphor for how we stay stuck in jobs we don’t like and in relationships we hate for the fear of what if or the I’m too comfortable to change the channel factor. Sticking it out until the very end when we could be doing something more productive with our lives was the true metaphor that we are exactly like the trapped characters in the film.
