It reads as if its set in a foreign country. Yet, it's set on U.S. soil providing insights into a culture and region that is part of the American tapestry. It is a coming-of-age story with threads of magical realism, and the awakening of a young soul. I loved it!

Glam I didn't lay money out at the theater for this. It was waaayyy, too long. Unfortunately it seems Cameron is relying on the evil father/good son theme, similar to Star Wars. But it had so many flaws. What happened to the water tribe in the last battle? They just disappeared.
Cameron also missed an opportunity to have a deeper connection to Weaver's daughter Kiri, instead of simply having Weaver's character do a "there, there" with Kiri.
There was also no scene where Kiri was celebrated fir her unique talents after feeling different from the others.
The ending is clearly set up for a third sequel. But I don't plan to watch it.
