Missing the sublime depth and subtlety of this film would be nothing if not an exercise in poor judgement. Uncut Gems is a film so layered in approach to its subject matter that many viewers will have only a vague notion of the discussion at hand. The execution of the plot is so intense and stressful and beautiful that it processes the audience through a ream of palpable trauma and lets them out on the other side bonded by the truth and brutality of what has happened.
