This movie was advertised as FBI agents hunting down a prolific serial killer the likes of “silence of the lambs” and our favorite horror movie people consumer. However, “long legs” crawled at a glacial pace. The characters were poorly written and caused otherwise decent actors to come off as monotone and bored. The script likewise did not feel well fleshed out and decided to go a supernatural/spiritual route instead of keeping it as a terrible human being tracked down by law enforcement.
The main character of Lee Harker came across as more of someone with a mental illness than as someone with good intuition. She spoke very robotically and showed very to little emotion even when faced with situations that could/would cause high levels of emotion. Similarly, Nicholas Cages character of Long legs, looked like he had gone through some terribly botched plastic surgery. It was comically obvious he was wearing heavy prosthetics. At one point you see the prosthetics dislodge.
Nicholas Cage’s performance was good and, I’ll admit, a bit creepy. But it just wasn’t enough to save this movie for me.
