Agree that the kingdoms of Chalukya, Rashtrakutas n Cholas weren’t given due importance by the ace historians, the fact that a book dedicated on these dynasties is what attracted me to picking this off the shelf at a book store.
I am not very happy with the book though. Most part of the book takes through author’s creative imagination. The repetitive emphasis on decline of Buddhism and cynical view on Hinduism gets clearer with each chapter.
Emperors building temples have been equated to politicians building shopping malls. And repeated ranting against Hindu rituals and anti Brahmanical writings gets more n more unbearable.
An untapped portion of Indian history requiring immense research, this book is a work of shoddy superficial analysis of various historical evidences.
