This is easily one of the greatest shows I have ever watched. I'd put it up in the big league of absolutely amazing shows, like Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, The Boys, or Boardwalk Empire. It had all the aspects of a good show: very clever and intriguing writing, decent cinematography, insane acting, but most of all the character development. It's rare that a show has character development as fully done and as captivating as it is in The Sopranos.
Besides the ambiguous dichotomy of two "families", the murders, the mob infighting and the New York vs New Jersey storylines, this show really stands out for its dream scenes. Chase makes them unlike anything I have ever seen. The dream sequence in S5e11 may be the one greatest scene of all time in mob-related media, it's just so well made and gives so many messages that it's astonishing how someone could think of it in the first place.
Overall, this show is basically perfect. My main issue is the fact that the show was basically overloaded with characters by season 6, and that most of them were killed off very early and could've had many more subplots and character development to them. One such character was Ritchie Aprile, who may just be my favourite acting performance throughout the show. He radiates so much evil, coldness, sociopathy, and utter depravity, all in just a few episodes in season 2. David Proval is an absolute menace of an actor. Chase could have done so much more with him, and unfortunately it just couldn't happen. There's plenty of other examples but this one just particularly stood out for me.
