So enjoyed listening to this lovely book, the audio performance is outstanding and made the characters come to life. Reading this from the perspective of modern times is a beautiful lookback to difficult but simpler times. Decisions to send a precious child on a ship, to a new world. One can only imagine. Relationships and events of these families, sharing a lifetime of sad, happy events and so many milestones and memories over decades. Heartwarming goodness, yet complicated. The weekly letters that were written between the characters and the words of the heart are a beautiful part I enjoyed. Even letters that were written, but never mailed, added such a wonderful layer of the story. If you enjoy historical war era fiction, this is a lovely book. I felt it could have easily been a true story. Congratulations to this author!!
