I don't typically review anything, but this one left a bad taste in my mouth. The one thing I will give this movie credit on is establishing Claire and Chris in the orphanage, otherwise saying this was based on the RE games probably means VERY LOOSELY BASED. Really just seems like they wanted to use the names for the characters and that's about it. The way Leon was written was atrocious to say the least, but credit to the actor for doing what he could with it. At least the personality was somewhat ok for the rookie cop being scared of the situation. Jill was written just about as bad, still actor did what they could. Characters personality was not represented at all. Zero relationship or communication with Chris and an odd fixation with Wesker. Chris and Claire both were not good. As I said I liked the little bit of setup and explanation in the orphanage. Should not of found out about Lisa Trevor yet at this point. I understand not everything is going to follow the games, but as a movie in general, kinda just blew it all open too early with that. Chris and Claire needed to be a lot closer like the siblings are in game (really noticed a trend with personalities). Wesker...the closer it got to the end the closer his personality got to being what it should, but still not at the point it should be. Birkin was ok. There was a little more development that should have been done with him and his family. And some of the plot points...I just dont think there's a word to describe it. Characters that should never meet up do, characters that should be involved aren't, hell there are even some important characters that aren't in the movie. Like I said I know its not going to be exact, but could have at least referenced a character at the mansion. There were a few moments that were sprinkled in specifically for fan service and you can easily tell what's coming, or it gets glossed over so quickly that you end up laughing 5 minutes later after you realize what was said. All in all, being a fan of the games and of zombie media in general, I can't recommend this to people from either fan base. Honestly just a godawful attempt at a "faithful game adaptation" and almost as bad as a zombie movie in general. I would only watch it if you want to see how bad it is for yourself, or on a bet.
