This book gets in your bones. The language is so beautiful, the descriptions of the characters and surroundings so compelling that I found myself re-reading sentences over and over again. You can really take your time and dwell in this book, but the characters fuel you onward and into a thrilling page-turning plot development (teased beautifully in the first few pages). The historical detail and accuracy transport you to this time period where women had to establish residency in Nevada in order to get a divorce (unless they could prove infidelity in their home state), and it’s a brilliant study on the illusion and cost of freedom for women in that period. I felt the ending was beautiful and perfectly understated, it just felt right and real. Loved it!!
