WOW, what a disappointment. I’m am such a fan of the trilogy and the animatrix; I’ve seen each at least three times and I’ so familiar with the lore! There we’re quite a few cameos that were nice to see! There is definitely a heavy humor element throughout It’s so shocking that they worked on this and even with Lana involved it was so bad. It clearly was forced by Warner brothers and they even say that in the script. Furthermore, the movie clearly recreates the iconic scenes of the trilogy not even trying to be fresh and new. After finding out that Warner brothers forced this sequel you get this feeling that it was intentionally made bad. Almost petty and made in defiance. What I was really disappointed with with certain creative elements that made the sequel feel like a distant relative of the trilogy. There is a heavy saturation of the color orange, especially in skin tones; in both the matrix and the real world. Which as you know, was something intentionally not added in the trilogy. The fight scenes were terrible; the fight scenes weren’t new, they recreated the old and it didn’t feel exciting. There were scenes with the swarm that felt chaotic and unorganized. Lastly, the music! So similar to the music in the trilogy, it felt lacking and not well thought out. It felt done quickly to get the job done. :( I was so excited for this movie. All in all, extremely disappointed!
