Despite the movie’s long run time I remained engrossed in the story throughout. It is quite an acting and screenwriting achievement to portray the De Niro and DiCaprio characters with their complex motivations of greed, deceit, cruelty, misplaced loyalty, and self deluded affections. I left the movie feeling saddened by the personal tragedy of the Osage in this historical portrayal, and the historical suffering of native Americans at the hands of greedy whites. In this story I felt uplifted by the perseverence of the Osage characters and the ultimate conviction of the perpetrators of the heinous murders. I enjoyed the experience of being authentically transported in time and place and learning something new about Oklahoma and the Osage culture of the time. I highly recommend this movie.
