I must admit that I am a Dune nerd. I’ve read all the books twice and I’m going to start for the third time since it’s been over 10 years since my last reading. Watching a movie I was pleasantly surprised that most of the main points of the book were covered. Two items I think they overlooked were giving more emphasis on the spice which is really one of the main aspects of the first book, and the role that the BeniJesuits played in the story as well. The movie was a little slow in the beginning but it picked up pretty quick and the primary roles were well acted. I am glad they did not try to cram in too much from the books because 2.5 hr is plenty these days for a feature film. I hope they have enough success with the first film so they can at least produce a trilogy.
