This show is AWFUL! If you've ever been in an abusive relationship (or had narcissist parents) then this will trigger ALL of your issues. It's not funny and it's uninspired. An aging couple goes broke and then boundary stomps all over their son and daughter-in-law to ultimately get their way. They even post a video to Facebook for a fundraiser that shows their DIL NAKED and they don't say a word (but they "didn't know"). Also, instead of babysitting they buy Drake tickets to "surprise" their Son and DIL for some asinine reason. The writers had to have gone to reddit and taken everything from "raisedbynarcissists", "insaneparents", and "JustNoMIL" and tried to mash it all together. Oh, but don't worry, in the end of the Facebook video they say these nice things about their kids and it's okay! Except for the fact that they don't say these things to their actual children's faces. Horrendous. Do not watch!

This wasn't good. Giving it more than one star because the cast, individually, are great. You should watch it, if you're trying to complete the list of seeing everything a favorite actor has done. All of the things that people have said before about why this doesn't work is true. I won't rehash it. The one pet peeve I have is that being from Ohio and having been to Centerville several times they couldn't Google Map it? They talk about where "The Big City" would be and name it to be Cleveland. Cleveland is over 3 hours away (depending on where in Cleveland you come from) When Cincinnati is about 45 minutes away, Columbus is just over an hour away and Dayton is right next to it. Come on people! Cleveland isn't the only big city in Ohio.

Watched this with my niece (who is 9) who started ballet recently. I was a dancer for many many years and went pro for a short time. The details that the writers screw up, honestly could have been avoided by 10 minutes on wikipedia. As someone else said a Russian princess would not have been training as a dancer and NO Russian would be training in Paris as the Imperial Russian Ballet was THE company to train in at the time with the Bolshoi just about to come into its maturity at the turn of the century. I get that writers want to create ambiance but you don't have to make up a legend about two dancers falling in love when you have a bunch of that already in existence with many ballets. And, seriously? "The Flowers" being "so old it's new"? They danced The Dance of the Mirlitons from THE NUTCRACKER. It's one of the most recognizable pieces of music in the world. It's done every single year as The Nutcracker is the cash cow for every ballet company in existence. I don't know why Jessica Lord was cast as the main character because she CANNOT dance. The cinematography makes me ill because they have to figure out a way to make her look good when her skills are incredibly basic. You can easily tell this by the fact that her face and feet are rarely shown together when she dances. Yet she was supposedly the "best" dancer in 1905? Maybe by Parisian standards but not Russian. And why she kept thinking Max was "being inappropriate" when they were doing a pas de deux is beyond me. If she was so good and a prima then she would have understood what a pas de deux entailed. Hannah Dodd (Harlots) is a fantastic dancer and doesn't require all of the camera tricks to showcase her talent. She should have been cast as the lead. With the exception of Castle Rock (Jeff) who comes off more as a class clown than an actual street performer the rest of the cast are talented dancers. It's a shame that they have to play backup to Lord's inadequacies. With all that being said, this isn't a CW show and it is incredibly age appropriate for tweens. My niece loves it and it allows me to teach her things like the history of ballet and help her understand the intricacies of the choreography. It's a way for her and I to communicate about things like boys and that it's okay to like science and math and dance at the same time like Ines (Her second favorite character. She likes Thea best.). You can put this on and have your kid binge it without any fear of anything inappropriate happening.
