The story is the kind dreams of adventure are made of. The beautiful young blond actress and the giant gorilla. Because of the cast of characters other than Fay Wray you find yourself cheering for Kong. Bruce Cabot is a stiff and Robert Armstrong's while a good performance ambitions despite his change of heart near the finale are selfish and self serving. Despite my comments I still watch the movie at least once a year as it must rank as a marvel of its time. By far better than any of the remakes. Like they have done with Tarzan after Gordon Scott they went to unremarkable average Joes. Just wish if they were going to make a remake don't just pick the beauty but a hero to challenge King Kong as well (i.e. would have loved to have seen original with Gable or any of the remakes with Selleck, Arnold, Cavill or even Jason Stratham).
