Growing up with the Toy Story movies, this one was nostalgic for me, and the first time my girls (5 & 3) to see one of the movies in the theater. I definitely thought #3 was a fitting conclusion so had no idea where Pixar would go with this. They do such an amazing job of portraying the difficult emotions kids go through and how sometimes something as simple as a toy can give them the strength they need to keep going. Loved Forky, he was silly and endearing and shows that not all toys are bought from a store. And that even “trash” has great value when it’s loved and needed. As always Woody goes through some character refining, and at the end realizes his new purpose in helping other toys find their “kids.” First Forky, then Gabby (this was a tearful moment), then loads of carnival toys. His and Bo’s story is beautiful as the lost toy, his long lost love helps him find a new purpose. Andy was all along really his kid, not Bonnie. Although he loved Bonnie their relationship was not the same as his and Andy’s. Woody realizes he had his time with “his kid” and it’s time for him to help other toys and children experience the same kind of love he felt with Andy. Great job, Pixar.
