I would think that MTV would actually care about the safety of the babies on the show. I happen to see an episode with Ashley and she had her daughter sleeping on her tummy in a bassinet with blankets all around. That is a disaster waiting to happen. As a nurse, it was difficult to watch and I started googling how to contact MTV to alert them of the importance of this topic. Putting a baby to sleep in such manner places that infant at a greater risk for death. Safe sleep practices is a leading cause of preventatable deaths for infants before their first birthday. MTV you should be ashamed to be focused more on the drama rather than having a healthcare provider to consult to make sure the contents of the show is factually based. It does a disservice to the teen moms watching if they can’t walk away learning something on how to be a great mom despite their age. Reach out to me and I can assist you with the content.
