I really thought this movie was terrible. A huge mess. For the most part, the rest of the movies have ranged from pretty good to really good. But this just wasn’t. A rare movie experience where I was uncomfortably bored and even embarrassed for them. The plot becomes nonsensical as soon as it goes down the time travel path, and you can’t even suspend disbelief because it is so illogical and confusing. It’s like they felt that at this point they don’t need to do any great special effects, cool new equipment, etc, they’ve done all that, and that we are expected to enjoy 3 hours of the non action “serious” parts of an Avengers movie. But I’ll still go and see the next spider man movie and black widow movie etc.

This movie is worthwhile for fantasy fans because it is new (I’ve never read the books) and the producers obviously know whay they’re doing (Lord of the Rings.....) It was superficial and trite of course - this isn’t high art here - but never to the point where one loses interest. To say it could have been better is always true. Much of the criticism seems to arise from the general plot from the books, which is unfair. If I had read the books perhaps I’d feel differently about the movie - it appears it deviated quite significantly, which can be a deal breaker for true fans. Will I watch this a second time? Probably not. Do I regret watching it last night? Not at all.
