Let me start out by saying that the reason why the wheel of time books were my favorite was because of its beautiful intricacy and vivid detail. The show makes a mockery of everything the books stood for. It flies through scene after scene and goes its own direction seemingly with no forethought. It's like the director said "screw the books I want to do my own thing". When the director of the show conflicts with Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan's wife you know it's not a good sign. And the show keeps hinting that the dragon reborn could be a man or woman which makes no sense because only men can wield the male half of the source. And it keeps hinting that there might be more than one dragon which just is so far off base it makes no sense whatsoever. It's so sad that the show doesn't do my favorite books justice. The whitecloaks often said they wanted to kill Aes Sedai but aes Sedai were much more powerful than the series actually lets on. And apparently gateways are a thing now? When they weren't rediscovered until halfway through the books? Giving Perrin a wife just seems like a pointless endeavour because she's hardly mentioned after the first few episodes. If Brandon Sanderson and Harriet can say that this representation of their work makes them proud then I'll continue watching. Until then... It's just upsetting that they manipulated the story so much already. What happened to Elaine and Min? Why didn't they go to Caemlyn? What happened to Perrins mentor who showed him he could talk to wolves? I guess now they're using the oath rods to enforce punishment now? Just seems like this show is about as bad as the Eragon movie.
**Update: I added a star because some of the scenes are moving and well done after the first three or so episodes. Still off base. If it improves I'll add another star or two.
