This is a great program. It had it all. Suspense, fantasy, monsters-good and bad, comedy, romance, battles between good and evil, education about places and words, twists on Grimm's Fairy Tales as well as other Old World supersitions and stories. There tended to be a bit of Wessen of the week, but the multishow arcs compensated. Also the Wessen of the week usually included quite a bit of character development and that added to the show overall. The cast had a real chemistry that made the show really fun to watch. My only negative comment is that Juliette was not convincing about her romantic attachment to Nick, nor was she convincing as a medically-trained professional. I was sick of her "Call 911", I was sick of anyone yelling "Call 911", and Juliette' s completely unrealistic response to medical situations. Though I have to say that she did evil extremely well. Her entire persona as Eve was a great improvement over her Juliette persona. The rest of the cast were excellent in their characters and improved in every show.
My only real complaint? The cancelling of an intelligent, interesting show in spite of fairly even ratings and an incredibly faithful audience. How many times did we follow our show across day and time changes. It sure seemed like a bit more, any?, publicity would have increased viewer-ship. This was also a show that my teenage children would put down their electronics and watch with their parents. And even talk about later. That is a rare thing these days, and my family was sad when show was over. Not only because it was a great and creative, and I will say it again, intelligent show, but also because ending Grimm removed a social group activity that the whole family enjoyed.
We know that the show is gone forever, except reruns, which are better than nothing. We just wish that the executives making the decisions had a gram of sense. Thank you everyone involved for a great run. We keep hoping that Grimm will regroup with the characters just being older. Not likely, but a nice daydream.
