Kinda disappointed. I was hoping the writers and producers would honor the original series. Instead, at least with this pilot, we got the usual dumb-down Hollywood formula geared to the non-thinking teenager looking for simple plot and heavy action. You know, something they can do while on the phone, etc.
The David Carradine version had message, thoughtfulness and respect for the viewer. They created a special journey with every episode and only used violence to make some kind of key plotpoint that was not gratuitous. Because I loved the original, I'll give this one two more chances to redeem itself. I am glad they used Asian actors, at least. And I hope the writers continue to show the scared, white nationalists that their fear of losing the country to people of color is unfounded and dangerous thinking.
