Don't listen to the critics or read any reviews before seeing this movie, as it will on result in you focusing on "the bad". I made that mistake before seeing it, and I completely regretted it. This film is riddled with beautiful and breathtaking imagery, and complex characters. They were able to do something wonderful with the final battle, and give us the redemption we were all hoping for since the Force Awakens. I absolutely love what they were able to do with this movie, and I am able to appreciate the story that they created. I feel a lot of viewers get caught up in what they wish was done differently with the entire sequel trilogy instead of enjoying what is put out. I love the Star Wars universe, and I felt this was a good conclusion to the Skywalker saga, and I enjoyed seeing the various nods to the original trilogy riddled throughout the movie.
p.s. if you read any of the novels that came out after Return of the Jedi, you would not be surprised that the emperor made a return :)
