Playing in VR with the Mother mod, easily the most intense, scariest gaming experience I've ever had and ranks as one of the great experiences of my life. I'm a big fan of the first 2 Alien movies and this game perfectly captures the spirit of the 1st movie to such an extent that I consider it canon, fitting in as it does between the events of the 1st and 2nd movie. I feel the pacing is spot on. You are not being hunted by the xenomorph all the time but there is an underlying sense of dread so that you never feel completely relaxed, except perhaps in a couple of parts. The soundtrack riffs heavily off the 1st movie and directly borrows a lot of it, including the iconic Jerry Goldsmith motifs that are instantly recognisable when you hear them. And the sound design is truly excellent, that nails the atmosphere of being stuck inside a confined space with an unstoppable monster that is hunting YOU. 10/10 - AMAZING, especially in VR. One of the the greatest media experiences I've ever had.
