What a startlingly good movie! It was a bit slow to start out. I was a bit thrown off by the main character’s OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) as well. Midway through the movie it became enrapturing. The film is about capturing the most important parts of life: letting go, finding a home and a family, chasing your dreams, heartbreak and healing. It is a very special kind of film that can find a balance between the imaginary world and the real one and draw them both together in a way that doesn’t seem ludicrous or fantasy laden. Very little language (a heck, a darn and a b ******), no sex, no violence and very gentle humor with no raunchy overtones. See star below for spoiler re content. This is a Perfect movie for a first date movie night or for a girls night in. Gardeners are also sure to love it!
I don’t think children would be interested in it unless they are very deep thinkers or perhaps bookish children who are a bit timid who may identify with the main character. It’s definitely geared towards teens and up. Five stars!
Spoiler below
*there is a death of a main character, but it’s handled tastefully and it greatly adds to the plot.
