Maid is gripping. Th ere is plenty to quibble about including: a bit of redundancy at times; the endless bipolar looping of Grandma, and of course Sean and Dad and evening the protagonist - until she breaks out of her predictable self defeating reaction to the constant negativity of her life from all sides.
But that is the point.
She has the strength to make through what most “average” people cannot imagine as daily challenges. And the persistent sadness of the predictability makes this a bit torturous at times, with the ending a release from this torture.
All the acting was great.
Personally, I’d have liked to have seen Maddy speak a bit more, as her role to me was perhaps the least believable which I know is politically incorrect to say.
A show well worth watching.
