This was a very disappointing movie. For one, the story was all over the place and nothing felt fleshed out. Second, there were so many extraneous characters just taking up space. Also, Dumbledore and Grindelwald's relationship felt so awkward. In addition, there were so many inconsistencies between this movie (which is supposed to be a PREQUEL to Harry Potter) and the Harry Potter movies we all loved. Why, for instance, don't Dumbledore and McGonagall (or any wizard, for that matter) wear long robes in the past, but they do in Harry's time? You could weakly argue it's a Hogwarts uniform (I mean, there are plenty of scenes in Harry Potter outside of Hogwarts in which they are still wearing robes), but here they are wearing muggle clothes even in the brief Hogwarts scene. Why does practically no one utter a word when using their wands in the past, but Harry's generation has to? Also, why do they make Ezra Miller's character look and feel exactly like a young Snape, when he's supposed to be someone else? Like, that's just Movie 101, right? Make each character look/feel different so the audience can distinguish them in their hearts/minds. There was so much wrong with this film. Ugh. There are few movies I really dislike, but I found myself wondering when this one would end 20 minutes in. This does not deserve to be in the Harry Potter franchise. I find it hard to believe JK Rowling was involved at all. I guess it's all about the money now and the story is an afterthought.
