A very complex,yet haunting film showing the repercussions of WWII.

One of my top 5 films of all time. I've watched it time and time again....has everything...great storyline, captivating from start to finish, brutal, gory but necessary in reflecting those times... when the action started, it kept you on the edge of your seat, amazing detail and fantastic casting, especially when I've read that some have never acted before. I've read that its been banned in a few countries, but I think the ban has been for political reasons rather than not being ' true' to the period and perhaps portraying the Mayans in a bad light. ..its a movie to entertain, and whose to question its authenticity...authentic to me without getting caught up in the political turmoil. Mel Gibson has directed and produced some amazing movies and not give the recognition deserving of his talents.

Definitely gets your attention ...but the ending is too far fetched...which is disappointing ...I understand that viewers enjoy twists in the plot, and this definitely has more than its fair share ...but the ending was an insult to intelligence. A couple of wasted viewing hours of my life that I can't get back.
