Having finally completed the Nuzlocke challenge with Pokemon Uranium, with three failed attempts behind me, I feel like I've gotten enough of a grasp on the game to give a review with honesty. I thoroughly enjoyed playing through Uranium, encountering the fakemon and building around challenging fights was a very fun time for me. The story is a little densely packed in at the end, with the amount of recapping that ends up being done, but the subtle clues at the start help the player feel rewarding for making connections between early and late game events.
As with most reviews I've seen, however, there is one thing I must criticize- the experience gain. When playing a nuzlocke like I did, losing a Pokemon is crippling due to the low experience gain. Items like the Exp. Share do little to nothing when actively training up a new Pokemon to use, which leads to long stretches of time spent trying to safely bring a Pokemon up to par with the rest of your team.
I, like most others, wish this fangame could have received the time and attention it ought to have been allowed, had it not been for Nintendo's C&D. As it is, what we have is a fangame that gets pretty grindy, but can be a good time nonetheless.
