A true Texas independent movie that is a comedy/drama/romance and works beautifully. Great performances throughout, from Thomas Hayden Church’s down but not out wildcatter oilman to Bruce Dern’s crusty rancher. Some great plot twists as Rudy Pankow gets a wild introduction to all the larger than life characters in the Texas oil scene. Wonderful performances by Carrie Ann Moss and AnnaClaire Hicks as strong women who abound in the industry but are rarely given credit. From the novel by Cole Thompson of the same name.
