It is a sequel to the Mucker. A better book. Almost like a western. In his day Burroughs had a great following. He was known for handling the theme of sacrifice quite well. Most of his heroes, heroines would relinquish love for service. At the end you mostly wanted to cry. This one is formulaic though recommendable if you wanted a taste. The Monster Men I feel to be the great work in this type formula. Most of his writing is considered pat by those who are used to the conventional bestseller. But no, a lot of his work has heart, an item overlooked by most bestsellers.
