What a book! The 'Empire Strikes Back' to Shades of Grey's 'Star Wars' - it's a darker, but still very funny and beautifully told dystopian tale where you learn the rules of the world as you go along. Strongly recommend revisiting Shades of Grey before starting this one as they mesh seamlessly despite the sizable release gap. It's addictive trying to work out what's going on - while following the emotionally intelligent characterisations. I _really_ didn't want it to end - and can't wait for the next installment - though this book feels that it answers a lot and is deeply satisfying in its own right. Had stupidly high expectations - all met. Can wait to read the next one!
