The key question that this film poses is: What was in the box? I remember visiting my grandmother in an Oxford hospital. My sister and I were accompanying our father. We were sitting there respectfully at her bedside when she suddenly became very animated and started talking about 'a box' asking my father if he had the box. My father thinking perhaps that 'this box' contained some family treasure leaned forward with ever increasing interest. We never discovered this mysterious box and thus its contents, just as in this film, were never revealed.
