My humble opinion? Eureka! Some how they navigated a slightly toxic and jaded market to bring some simple crack-you-up brilliance. How'd they do it? They mixed some toxic and jaded parts of American culture, like poisonous recipes from kids eating garbage in the garbage to cartel consulting corporates, with an all-star comedy lineup. Then add an endless list of cameo bit parts and a relentless barrage of perfectly placed, if not perfectly timed tongue in cheek 1960's currents, where Andy Warhol gets his revenge, Kennedy tells us to ask not and the truth about the milkman comes to light. And voila! Overall, It is a bit sterile and all-starish to be a cult classic and maybe too directly formulaic to be appreciated by the Cannes crowd. But the elements are there and, without a doubt, it is a funny piece of work. All this to bring us the story of the perfectly poisonous breakfast treat: the Trat Pop.
