I've said it before and I'll say it a million more times: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky is my absolute favorite Pokemon game- out of and including the main series. And I love the main series! But this game is amazing, heart-rending, and original. The plot is so well-thought-out, and while I'm not a crier, the closest I've come while playing any game was at the ending of this one. People argue that the dungeons are repetitive and boring, but I disagree! It's repetitive, sure, but in a way where you can get into the flow. And no more repetitive than the main games- it gets tiring going into full battle mode at each step in a cave. In the dungeons, you move fast. You can avoid the attacking Pokemon, or use items to stop them. Different ones present different challenges, so you have to learn as you go. It requires you to use strategy to figure out the best ways to beat each Pokemon, and what items to carry, how much money to bring. It's not boring- the missions you undertake change every time, and in different dungeons. All the characters are so lovable, and each one has their own (subtle) progression throughout the series. The plot was predictable at a few points, but there was always another surprise, always something that kept you gasping at every turn. I don't want to spoil, but one part literally gave me chills (and the fact that people reading this who've played will guess multiple parts speaks to how good the plot is). Point is: I have no idea how this got such low reviews.
