I enjoyed it more than not, however I may be partial due to my deep love for everything sci-fi and the original Toy Story series. So if you like really cool space ships or just wanna see Buzz back in action I totally recommend it, but if you are just looking for a movie to see over the weekend there are better options out right now, Maverick for one. If I had to rate it, 67/100. Also me and my father where worried about them replacing the original voice actor for Buzz (Tim Allen) with Chris Evans, who you might know from Captain America, but he did a great job, you can barely tell it's a different guy. For those more traditionally minded, yes there is a same sex relationship at the beginning of the film. In my opinion it was incredibly tasteful and not preachy in the slightest, the furthest it went is a brief kiss and a hand hold. Unlike the mass media I understand if you don't agree with that and won't villainize you, I know first hand growing up in a religious household that your not the ignorant rednecks the media makes you out to be. So I would not avoid this movie because of it, however I understand if your values are more strict so I thought I would let you know.

I feel this is one of those movies where the critics were... critics. Yeah there were inconsistencies in tone but when it comes down to it; did I thoroughly enjoy the movie, Yes. Now for the analysis part; Graphics and effects were JAW DROPPING, I know magic is not real but it sure looked legit! Acting was pretty damn good too, I feel the cast that stood out most however was Eddie Redmayne (Newt) and Jude Law (Dumbledore). I don't feel they allowed Mikkelsen (Griswold) to play the character to his full potential, I have seen him in Another Round and Riders of Justice where he showed extreme character depth, but he just seemed emotionally shut off in this one, maybe the director was going for that. Now I felt the tone was off because they tried to capture the essence of the original series, but the original series starts off as cute kids movie and evolves into a more intense Twilight-esque drama, when they tried to blend the magic of both sides it came off as a bit overly dramatic and lost, like one second your watching a cute family comedy and the next a dark political drama. So all in all I give it and 85/100, it was really good and by far my favorite of the prequels.
