I was absolutely appalled at this so called version of Persuasion, it's a 'dumbed down' hack of the original beautifully written book w/ far too many references to modern day i.e., showing a bound stack of sheet music stating how Captain Wentworth made her a 'play list'.
Ann's sister, Mary Musgrove might as well been deleted from the movie as all of her wonderful, exhausting and narcissistic dialogue was omitted.
I will say that the characters of the Musgrove sisters were not bad - but the script unfortunately allowed one sister to be 'out of character' for the time period (as most of the characters in this sad adaptation).
If one is going to tell a story, get it right and don't shorten or deviate from the original. If a writer/producer want to make an adaptation of an existing book - do it right or don't do it at all.
