NO SPOILERS:
Don't listen to haters. This game is every bit as good as the first. Yes you should prepare for big feels and a lot of them will be negative. If the first story showed us the bad decisions and price we pay for love then this story shows us the price we pay for hate. It's well written and deep in a way most games arent. Characters and their motivations are believable and realistic. If I have one complaint it is that the game is too good at building animus quickly and you truly begin to hate some of the characters, which makes for a very jolting transition halfway through the game. That being said every negative review I have read seems to fail to understand the way the story unfolds or fails to recognize certain events for what they are intended to be; a storytelling trick that is supposed to trigger deep emotions in the audience and drive investment in the characters and story. This game is an interactive novel. It is by turns heartwarming, shocking, horrifying, maddening, and touching. It has themes of loss, revenge, hope, and the insane things we do for love and hate. Gameplay is good. I played on Survival as a stealth game and did very little shooting besides bosses. If you aren't immature or bigoted and can appreciate subtlety and nuance in an emotional story then I'm sure you'll agree TLoU2 is just as good as the first.
