I have a strange feeling that some of the people who gave this movie a 1 star rating did not actually watch the movie. They just saw that it wasn't a generic gore filled slasher paranormal movie filled with jump-scares and didn't pay attention for the whole time. I might be wrong though, they may have watched the whole movie and thought that just because it was unique and different, not what they were used to watching, they thought it was bad. Although I do not not think this movie is perfect, I am going to say that just because the movie is very different and it takes patience to go through the whole movie does not mean its not good. ---------------------------------------------------- I actually watched the entire movie and understood exactly what the purpose of the movie is supposed to be. The purpose of Skinimarink is to give you anxiety from the fear of abandonment and the fear of the unknown, specifically having those fears as a child. The children do not recognize their own home as what it is supposed to be anymore, and are now scared of it after their parents are not there to be with them in the middle of the night. They kind of experience kenospia throughout the movie, which is where you get the feeling that something is wrong when you see a place that is usually full of life, completely dead. -------------------------------------------------------- im gonna give this movie a 8.5/10. I think it really does a good job of presenting the children's anxieties on to us, putting viewers in to the position of what they are experiencing. I don't think there are any other movies that really capture this feeling as well as skinamarink does, because “scary movies” are usually either just stupid slasher films with jump-scares or generic ghost stories with jump-scares. Unlike the generic horror movie, this genre of horror forces you in to a position that you do not want to be in. It causes you to actually have the same thoughts as the characters as they go through their journey. So please read this review before reading all the 1 star reviews, thanks.
