I'm not a massive star wars fan or anything of the sort. But you don't have to be to see the incredible story breaking plot holes. It was annoying to see a movie with so much potential written so poorly. The sub-par writing went beyond the main plot but also created an obviously forced love triangle that had no grounds to even exist. Special effects and acting were all fantastic but with a plot that broken it was hard to enjoy.

Definitely a slower paced and more serious movie but it's still great. Has a lot of world building and storytelling but it's still a very engaging movie throughout. Part of the experience is learning about this new Dune "universe". Me and my girlfriend both commented after the movie that it felt like the shortest 2 1/2 hour movie we ever watched and neither of us had read the book. If you enjoyed the new BladeRunner or the original LOTR movies then you'll love this new Dune. A nice change of pace from the increasingly repetitive StarWars/Avengers movies. We were surprised when we saw how many people hated this movie and found it boring/didn't understand it and we're definitely not movie snobs (I'll watch virtually anything). Overall a great story and fantastic visuals. Can't wait for the next movies.
