Simply one word. Extraordinary. Especially if you played the original back in 1997 (I was 6 years old). The graphics are freaking insane, the regular gameplay look like one big cut-scene. The gameplay and battle mechanics are a treat as well. I love how they added more depth to the original story, which includes exploring some interesting characters that didn't have much of the spotlight in original (Jessie, Biggs, Wedge). Square definitely did not disappoint and some of the scenes in this game pulled on my heart strings EVEN MORE than the original, which is probably due to the incredible voice acting and writing. Square freaking NAILED IT, and I can't wait to see the next parts.

The ONLY thing I'm kind of "eh" about that. they included in the remake that was NOT in the original is the "Ghosts" that literally popup unnecessarily. I get what they were trying to do with Cloud's back story with them, but it does kind of take away from those key scenes and they just act as a distraction more than a compelling tool to add to the story. Just my 2 cents, I could have gone without them, and would have enjoyed some of the scenes more without them as well.
But overall, Bravo to Square! THIS IS HOW YOU DO A REMAKE! I feel the love the developers poured into this beloved game & story.
(Take note Blizzard...)
