Why did Tom need assistance when he was able-bodied enough to do it himself. Euthanasia is for people who are beyond doing anything for themselves. Also why was a retired detective so inept at covering her tracks?

There were some deviations from the brilliant novel by Dumas, and John Malkovic, brilliant though he was, made no attempt to disguise his American accent. However this is a very enjoyable and moving film.
