Life's Abroad

This is easily one of my top 10 movies. Such a classic with excellent visuals and an inspiring plot. As a matter of fact, I went to Iceland after seeing this movie as motivated as I was!

For anyone after some Japanese nostalgia until travel resumes, this is the movie for you. The opening scene as Bill Murray enters Tokyo, the Kyoto scenes where Scarlett Johansson skips across the rocks of Heian Jingū and the squeals being emitted from the karaoke booth are just some of the highlights which will let you reimagine those days and nights spent exploring this wondrous country. If only I’d known that Suntory whisky would skyrocket the way it has, I may have let those bottles of Hibiki and Yamazaki remain sealed from all those years ago. Regardless of what happens, ‘Lost in Translation’ will hold a special place amongst my collection.

I played THPS5 not too long ago, forgetting how bad that game actually was. When I heard about this remake, I was excited but feared they would make all the same mistakes. Alas, they’ve nailed it. Playing this for the first time was comparable to playing THPS3 on PS2 and being blown away by the advancements in graphics. All those hours of muscle memory allowed a seamless transition into this game and I was surprised at how much of the original series I could recall e.g. hidden areas. There is really nothing I would want different about this game, it is that good. If I was being picky, I wouldn’t mind having the option to reset ‘Career Mode’ using a different character. Hopefully this game gets enough backing to allow either a DLC with 3/4 levels, or a sequel.
