Nothing to do with the book at all. At least the series Jack Ryan was updated in such away that it still tied in with the books in away. The only thing this movie has in common with the book is that the character is a Navy SEAL. Otherwise nothing that is familiar with the book. They could have updated the movie with still holding true to the source material from the book and it would have been different and entertaining.
