I'm writing this review in response to most of the one star reviews. I noticed two main points being brought up with these reviews so I just wanted to give my opinion on these topics. If you're looking for an in-depth review on the show as a whole then you wont find it here. I wasn't expecting to write a review at all so I don't have key factors in my opinion though I will go over the reason I gave this show a four star rating in this response. The two main points I noticed amongst the one star ratings were the fact that the characters were unlikable/unsympathetic and the fact that the show runs dry within the later seasons. I think the idea of the characters being made unlikable is subjective. A big argument I saw being brought up was that the show tries to justify Walter White's decisions. Going so far as to painting him as a white knight protagonist. For this I just have to say no it doesn't. Walter White is the main character of the story who so clearly makes the worse of decisions (he literally starts a meth business within the first episode). The only person who tries to justify these actions is Walter himself, those who happen to side with him is often under the influence of his manipulation. If you think the show is justifying these actions then you caught the whole point of a protagonist. Since most of the show is focused on Walter, people often have the same view point as him. The only reason why it seems the show tries to justify Walter is simply due to him being the main character, which deserves credit. If the main character is interesting then most people will side with them. Even when they're an antihero though their moral compass will soon persuade their view point depending on the actions of the character. If you think Walter is a bad guy then good job, you figured out the whole point of Breaking Bad. As for the other characters being unlikable then I can understand where you're coming from, but within a new point of view it can be argued. I along with most disliked Skyler within my first watch (though not as much as some people with extreme feelings). I thought her always countering Walt was frustrating as hell, but for my second viewing I totally understand. I wont go into depth but I felt this way for most of the characters, just trying to understand their situation. Except for Marie, I wasn't the biggest fan of her this second time around but still tried to show sympathy. As for the show running dry in the later seasons, I totally agree. I wont go into depth on all that since there's already a lot of one star reviews on that aspect although that is the reason I decided to give this show a four star rating.
