Okay, so, I know that no one liked Madame Web, but I loved it? The earnest insanity of it all was just so endearing.
No, it definetly is nowhere near the "best" superhero movies of all time quality-wise, but I it is easily in my top 5 most "enjoyable" superhero movies of all time. Lately, every new movie is just homework, trudging into the theatre for a couple hours of CGI, uninspired stories, and a post credit scene I need to take notes on. But Madame Web absolutely broke the mold! With every new leap in logic and bizarre plot twist me and my friends were newly amazed! The spectacle of it all had us gasping, shouting, flinching, and generally incredulous at the unfolding story.
I've got to say, one of the most charming aspects of the movie was, in-between scenes of ambulance and taxi driving stuff, there were glimpses of a much better movie with crazy Spiderwomen stunts and action. So, I think the sequel definetly looked promising.
On a whole, the cast did pretty good with what little they were given and definetly brought life to poorly written characters. That said, the experience of watching this kooky and unnaturally paced adventure play out is one I 200% recommend to anyone interested in a movie very different from the current superhero landscape. Just be ready for something defying expectations and convention (for better or worse).
Here's hoping for the epic Spiderwomen Sequel!
