I dont really like the word austenite, do I love Jane Austen yes, have I been reading everything she has ever written since I was teen yes. But I live in the 21st century and truly loved this version of Persuasion and thought it was a funny, romantic, modern drama that was beautifully photographed. In addition the cast was amazing although Mr. Wentworth was a bit too serious and seemed to always looked surprised or awestruck when speaking to Anne Elliott (which was kinda weird). Overall the women made the period drama amazing while the men in their supportive roles were left unimpressive but who cares. Dakota Johnson carried the story on her back and made it so much closer to how we truly are today. Now I am an even bigger fan of her's as I was her mother and grandmother. The poor reviews well who cares, watch for yourself and then decide without the biases that mirror the least flexible, open, grumpy, and conflicted world we live in today.
