I agree with Dave Brown. I have read the whole series 4 times and would have rather read it a fifth than watch it on t.v. but I've been very pleasantly surprised. Yes they have to cut almost all of the medicine and animals out from the written stories but there's no way to have included them and still make it as entertaining as Herriot conveyed his own thoughts and struggles. And I approve of all of the plot changes. It's not good in the way the books were but it's quite fine, and such a warm, pleasant watch in this way.
