Having visited Australia, actually circumvented the entire continent aboard a ship and visited every major city, I was impressed by the people of Darwin in the Northern Territory. They survived a typhoon that devastated the entire city and were incessantly bombed by the Japanese during WWII.
Like most bigger than life productions, they went over the top in numerous scenes, but that’s the name in much of entertainment. They were emphatic in the portrayal of many issues they were trying to make with the average movie goer.
In all, it was a very entertaining film that made many important points. Australia was a rough, tough country to settle that had people equal to the task. They made lots of mistakes, not unlike America. In the end, a democracy resulted that is the envy of others worldwide.
