I'm simply stunned reading the reviews here. Listen, we're all starved for new content. I get it. I would love to love this. I'd love to even like it! I'm a lifelong DC comics fan. This is new and different but that doesn't make it good. The good news: this film is better than the Whedon version. But again, that's setting an extremely low bar. This new version wavers between mediocre and completely unwatchable. (As opposed to Whedon: almost 100% unwatchable!) There are some cool action sequences. And kudos to Snyder for being so committed to his vision and serious take on this material. But unfortuntely it's long and often boring and dark and often completely nonsensical. An example of all of this is the (20 minute long!) epilogue that not only undercuts the ending but is also completely incomprehensible. If you're hanging out with friends and want a good laugh (not because the movie intended to be funny, but because it is hilarious in its endless attempts to be serious) go ahead and take a half a day off of work. Otherwise, walk away.

A fresh and unique take by a director with a strong point of view and the vision to realize it.
