Let me preface this with, I know trauma. Not the same Run of the mill, let’s whip together some attractive Netflix series flytrap about it, but really, soul sucking and scrutinizing trauma. That being said, I was in it with this movie. Yes MM was more than the things this movie portrayed her as, but I’ve yet to see a movie so accurately and vehemently represent how it feels to go through losses that I can personally vouch for - I won’t go into to the details, but damn if that wasn’t how I felt through so many of those horrible, debilitating moments of my life.
No one can deny this woman felt incredible trauma throughout her life, but I’ve read the book and I’ve now lived through he movie.. it’s hard to stomach and it’s much more complex than most biographers denigrate her journey to. As en empath and fellow subject of almost similar familial as well as societal subjugations, I think, as far as movies go, this was IT.
